Born in Chicago and raised by a single mom, singer songwriter Omarr Escoffie has lived of life of hard times and has taken those experiences to create some of the most real and heartfelt songs written in recent times.

At age 15, Escoffie’ left home only to live in the back of a station wagon, with the self assurance that his dream of stardom would one day be realized. At 18, Omarr went to Covenant House, a halfway home for abused and homeless kids, by choice, so that he could live in Los Angeles, where he felt he could showcase his talents.

Through the subsequent years, Escoffie’ honed his songwriting craft and released his 1st CD "Ambivalence" in 1999 as Slow Car Crash.

This sparked a creative flame which led him to release "Come Out and Play Tonight" in 2001 and the EP "Hope on the Other Side" in 2003. This EP marked a musical evolution in his sound featuring a full live band, acoustic guitars, soul, jazz and rock, and a lyrical growth marked by social awareness and a new found hope in life.

In 2003, Omarr played bass guitar for Adam Kowalczyk of LIVE which released "Looking up from the Ground". The pair toured and played together for a year. Check out Adam and the Weight to listen to some of the tracks.
